“What is that? Velvet?” is a line from the movie ‘Coming to America’ which is one of my favorite comedies of all time. I usually come up with the titles for my fashion posts by using the first thing that pops in my head and that line just happened to be it.
Believe it or not, I actually bought this jumpsuit almost a year ago before the velvet trend became as popular as it is now. This jumpsuit had been sitting in my closet because I couldn’t figure out how I wanted to style it. That was until my mom decided to clean out her closet…
While cleaning out her closet, my mom had this silver heart chain belt (along with a gold one) that she had in a pile to give to goodwill. As soon as I saw the belt, I knew it would be the perfect piece for my jumpsuit. But I decided to wear the belt backwards instead…I just thought it looked better.
This outfit definitely has a 70s vibe to it but instead of paring it with platforms, I decided to wear my strappy black and white snakeskin stilettos.
Oh, and who says black girls can’t wear blue eyeshadow?
