I love summer, but only as a concept.
I was born in 1991.
I grew up listening to great music accompanied with even better music videos. My favorite song/videos always came out just in time for the summer.
Songs like ‘Frontin’ by Pharrell , ‘Why Don’t We Fall in Love’ by Amerie and the iconic ‘Summertime’ by The Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff just seemed to capture what the essence of summer is suppose to be. Fun and free.
Summer is always depicted as the time when you wear skin-baring clothes, hang out with your friends, do adventurous things and meet a summer love.
Summer made me excited to live life.
It made me believe that the greatest memories are made during this time and that there is so much life waiting to be experienced.
I’ve always loved summer, but only as a concept.
Every morning when I wake up, the sun shines brightly in my room. But when I look outside, I don’t see all the possibilities of summer. I don’t see new friends, a summer love and new adventures. I see nothing.
Even though summer is just outside my window, it seems so far away from me.
But I still daydream about it.
I even think that one day I’ll finally meet the summer I’ve been fantasizing about for most of my life.
I think about summer all the time, but does it ever think of me?
